Chiaki is enjoying an exhibition full of sentai hero displays along with Kaoru, when suddenly, Yume appears…
Season: ES 2nd Year, Summer (June)
Location: Department Store (Sentai Hero Exhibition)

UOOOHH! I never thought I’d ever get to see the hero outfits of the currently running shows this up close…!
There are miniature figurines of all the past kaijuu lined up over there. And they’re even set up in dioramas of the places that the hero and kaijuu fought!
I can’t take photos here, so I have to be extra sure to sear every little thing into my mind! ♪
Ahaha. You look like you’re having fun, Moricchi.
Mm, sorry… I got over-excited on my own.
Nah, don’t sweat it.
You were looking forward to this sentai hero exhibition, weren’t you? Don’t worry about me, just enjoy it as much as you like.
No, I can’t let myself do that!
Sudden invitation or not, you came here with me, Hakaze.
If you hadn’t joined me, I would’ve been all on my lonesome while checking out the exhibition today.
That’s exactly why I want you to also enjoy this event as much as possible, Hakaze…!
You’re exaggerating things… I just didn’t have anything scheduled today, so I joined along to kill time, that’s all.
Well, I don’t know sentai heroes as well as you do, so I sadly can’t keep up with your talks, but…
I’ll be enjoying myself here in my own way, so really, don’t worry about me.
That’s good to know then.
…Aaalright! If there’s anything you don’t know, feel free to ask me! I’ll make sure to explain it in digestible terms so that you can also enjoy it! ☆
Ahaha. I’ll rely on you when the time comes.
That all being said, the scale of this exhibition is way bigger than I expected. I heard it’s an exhibit intended for kids, so I’m a little surprised.
Yeah, I heard that it’d be a large museum that reserved the department store’s entire event space for display, but I’m just as surprised that they put this much effort into it.
I already expected there to be lots of kids with their parents, but it looks like there’s a pretty decent amount of people older than us here, too.
That’s because the exhibition doesn’t only have displays of sentai heroes from current shows, but those from past shows, as well.
There are even heroes displayed here that would be nostalgic to people much older than us… People from the same generation as our parents, even.
Ohh, so that’s why there’s some heroes that I recognize.
…Huh? That section over there looks a little different from here…?
Mm? …Ahh, that side is where they’re displaying everything from the magical girl shows, aimed towards girls.
This exhibition is a joint exhibit of the Super Hero Time shows that are broadcasted on Sunday mornings, after all.1
Magical girls, huh~ Do you ever watch those too, Moricchi?
Since the shows get broadcasted right after sentai hero shows, there’s plenty of times that I watch them, as well.2
Huh… That’s a world I barely know about, honestly~
I know my older sister used to watch them when we were young, but I don’t really know their names or who is who.
That’s pretty normal when it isn’t something you’re interested in. I’m not all that well-versed in them, either.
Still, they’re having a special display of their own, so it might be nice to peek into that area a little.
Ehh~? Won’t we stick out like a sore thumb…?
Haha, you’re overthinking it. Look, there’s a bunch of male visitors around our age over there, too.
Oh, you’re right. I wonder if they’re accompanying their little sister or something?
Hm, it looks like this section is displaying all the outfits and the life-sized figurines of magical girls.
I can tell the craftsman was very particular with every detail, from the fingertips to the silhouette of the hair. Such wonderful craftsmanship…☆

Fufun. Looks like there’s someone who gets it a little, hm?
(…Mm? That was sudden… But huh, where have I seen this kid before?)
Could you be Yume-kun?
Yume…? Ah~ As in, the new idol that recently joined ES? He’s in NewDi, right?
Yeah, he’s part of the unit Esupuri.
Yume knows you. Yume sometimes sees you with Midori-sama, after all.3
Ahh, I’m so happy to hear that you know me~♪ Please do get along well with Takamine, too! ☆
But I never expected us to meet in a place like this. Have you also come here because you like this craft, Yume-kun?
Yes. Yume was looking forward to it for a loooong time.
The craft itself is obviously something Yume was excited for, but Yume would even go as far as to check the social media account of this figurine’s modeler.
(Whispering) Moricchi, what’s a modeler?4
(Whispering) It’s referring to the craftsman who was in charge of making this figurine. Yume-kun must be a fan of them.
A big exhibition for these sorts of work is a rare sight in itself.
Yume was already planning to come here, but after hearing that a person Yume likes is in charge of this girl’s figurine sculpture, Yume couldn’t help but be very excited to see it.
It’s as you mentioned; from the fingertips to the volume of the hair, and even the balance of the figurine… There’s only one modeler out there who would have this much incredible understanding of the character.
Yume is in awe no matter how many times Yume looks at it. This girl also looks happy, getting to look so cute. ♪
Fufu. I understand, Yume-kun.
If I learned that a suit actor I respect is participating in my beloved hero shows, I would’ve been all the more excited to see that performance, too.5
I can tell just by how much you’re praising it, Yume-kun. It must’ve been a very particular choice by the modeler to have deliberately crafted it in a different pose from her usual famous one.

…! Exactly, exactly that…!
The average person immediately jumps at whatever is recognizable, so they get snappy and say, “Why didn’t they model this figurine with the most iconic pose you see on posters?”…
But when making a 3D model, the right way to do it is to make it the pose of her very first appearance.
Still, I’m sure the modeler went through their own doubts, too. However, seeing how perfected it turned out, they surely didn’t make the wrong choice.
But of course, it would’ve still turned out to be a wonderful figurine even with another pose.
Yume also agrees. But that’s also exactly why this girl, who was crafted into this specific pose, is invaluable.
Yeah! The struggles they went through are exactly why the final product has all the more value to it.
But now I’m certain there’s particular focus points in the rest of the figurines, too. It frustrates me that I won’t be able to spot them due to my lack of knowledge.
Ufufu, then Yume will tell you all about it~♪
Are you sure? It looks like you came here by yourself, and I’d rather not disturb your time if you’d like to go around the place at your own pace…
Yume doesn’t mind. Any person who truly understands the intentions behind this pose is no bad person.
Yume will personally teach you all about it~♪
Ahaha, that’s just wonderful! Don’t you think so, Hakaze!
Huh? Me?
Oh, I know! I came here to look at all the sentai heroes!
Maybe it doesn’t work as an exchange per se, but if you’re alright with it, how about you entrust me with guiding you around that section, Yume-kun?
No, Yume isn’t interested in sentai heroes.
…But, everyone has their own favorite thing.
Since you’re someone who understands the beauty of this girl, there may be value in hearing you out.
Yume looks forward to hearing interesting talks from you…♪
Yeah, you can count on it…☆ Alright, then let’s start with this figurine first!
(Moricchi looks to be having fun, huh~ They probably won’t run out of topics anytime soon, so I don’t think they’ll notice me quietly leaving…?)
(Either way… It’s always nice to get to talk to one another passionately, just like those two are, isn’t it~? ♪)

- ↑ Super Hero Time is a time block on Sunday morning TV intended for airing the new episodes of tokusatsu shows (Sentai and Kamen Rider). PreCure is aired right after, so most people consider the series as part of the Super Hero Time block as well, like the "sister franchise" to Super Sentai and Kamen Rider. - ↑ Yume is on good terms with Midori; see: Midori & Yume stories.
- ↑ Yume says zoukei-shi (造形師), lit. modeler. This is a term mainly used when it comes to craftmaking figurines of characters from anime (ex. magical girls) or shows (ex. tokusatsu).
- ↑ Suit actor is a waseigo term. In a hero show (a live stage performance of hero VS villain), a suit actor is typically the stuntman in the full-body suit, who performs the stunts and action scenes. One of Chiaki’s dreams is to be a suit actor.
